Sky Blue Cafe - Let's have a ball and a Biscuit shugah
Sky Blue Cafe in East Nashville’s Edgefield neighborhood is my favorite hangover brunch spot in town. Never too crowded, convenient parking, and quite the delicious menu for that empty Sunday morning tummy. I recently ordered my first southern style biscuit with butter and I couldn’t have been more satisfied. My main course was the Eggs Benedict sub Turkey bacon for home fries, fruit and fresh squeezed OJ over ice. The wait staff are all very charming and the menu prices are very reasonable. It’s always sunny and clear blue skies on Fatherland, see you next Sunday!
This is a little slice of “Monkey Bread” that we took home with us for a little late night snack!
These photos of Francis Bean by Hedi Slimane are incredible. He has been one of favorite designers for years and really couldn’t have chosen a better model in this “Rock Diary”. I love how Kurt comes to life thru the sultry, cryptic, dark and sexiness of her eyes, lips and attitude.
Shelton Hank Williams III is the grandson of country legend Hank Williams and is also one of the most badass acts I’ve ever seen live. We arrived at the show at least an hour before he played, it was quite a scene. Walking into a Hank show is like walking into an imbred, ex con, redneck, hillbilly beauty contest where the winner gets to walk away with a bad tattoo and PBR beer buzz! It is freakin awesome. I made the mistake of wearing a short skirt and Chanel purse, I was way overdressed, but nobody seemed to care or mind. I truly felt like I was at a southern, punk rock, hoedown, I saw more Misfits shirts at The End then you’d see on the Bowery. Hank and A.D.D (Attention Deficit Domination) played a ton of outlaw country hits for the first hour or so, then Hank came back and played doom metal! If you ever get the chance to see him play - DO NOT MISS OUT! So much fun, you have no idea!!!
I don’t want to jinx anything but the Nashville nights are really starting to cool off, and Fall may be right around the corner. This is great for more a slew of reasons, a few being - less mosquitos, less convection oven feeling nights, fall foliage and more outdoor/backyard hang outs!! Here’s a pic from a typical night spent talking, laughing, drinking bourbon, and just having a down right great time! Ashley’s house was so much fun to cook out in! Thanks Matthew for the invite and introduction!
Brunch at Tavern in Midtown is an excellent place to go for food after a backyard hang session. The Huevos Rancheros are great as well as kale salad!
I hosted a dinner party last week with some of my new friends in town. It was such a success and all of our guests were very satisfied! We served tagliatelle w/ organic vodka sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, baked bbq cage free chicken with a lemon bbq marinade, grass fed lamb chops, prime rib, grilled garlic zucchini, squash, and eggplant, guacamole, fresh organic chopped vegetable salad with organic carrots, celery, green peppers, onion and lettuce. Our beautiful friends provided some very delicious wines! All in all, our 1st Nashville dinner party was a big hit. We want all of our friends to join us for the next one!
The beautiful flowers that Emily brought!

Marinated bbq chicken
Grilled Lamb Chops ! So, so, so good. Definitely will be making these again
I’m really happy to have had the good fortune to have met all of these amazing people in Nashville. They are all so talented, here’s a picture of Emily wearing one of Amanda Valentine’s dresses! It’s so pretty, I want it. Libby’s new book has been published and will be hitting shelves soon, check it out here!
The East Nashville Farmers Market is one of the greatest markets I’ve ever seen. This place blows any other farmers market out the window. I buy fresh/organic vegetables here every week. The market is featured by all local farmers and offer corn, tomatoes, jalapenos, serrano peppers, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, cabbage, lettuce, eggplant, carrots, celery, and so on. One woman told me that she considers artichoke a “weed” on her farm, ha! It wont be a weed when I grow my garden :). The other tents include cage free eggs, hormone free / grass fed beef, all natural honey, bird feeders, candles and even a LIVE BAND! The market is located at 10th and Russell in a beautiful grass lot from the hours of 330pm-630pm. They have a CSA that I will definitely be joining. Even if you aren’t there to shop you can always say hi to the cute boys at the Wheatgrass tent - $2 a pop and well worth it :)
Fresh cut Veggies from the Farmer’s Market - Perfect for the fridge and when you have the urge for a little nibble before dinner
Definitely top 5 meal I have ever cooked:
Filet Mignon marinated in a light soy sauce, sesame oil, brown rice vinegar, garlic, onion and carrot served w a 7 vegetable chopped salad with pumpkin seeds and feta cheese drizzled with a lite honey mustard and balsamic. The side is a garlic, buttered mashed potato with shaved smoked gouda cheese.
Catherine Fulmer Men's wear and Classic Scarlet red belted dress
One of my best girlfriends, Aura Friedman, head colorist for Serge Normant at John Frieda and her boyfriend, artist Charles Shedden, attended a wedding and wore my clothes! I think these pictures turned out really well! Enjoy!
I was really drawn to these colors this weekend. So inspiring and pretty. I can’t wait to incorporate these colors into my next collection and into my backyard garden. I could stare at these all day. Blue bells are incredibly beautiful. Happy Monday everyone!
To say Nashville is beautiful would be an understatement. I have my qualms with mosquitos, bee’s, and the occasional 110 degree heat index, but nothing is better than getting out on an old country highway and cruising west of town to visit Narrows of the Harpeth state park. It’s so green and serene it almost looks fake. You can take different length trips ours was set to be 2.5 hours, and we stretched it into 6. The water was about 2.5 feet deep in most places and a perfect 75 degrees. We would go for a little bit, then stop, then swim, then stop, then swim. Marty loved it the most I think, he jumped out of the canoe multiple times, ran through the marsh, chased birds, and just had a ball. I can’t wait to go again, its a summer must, especially to beat the heat. My single lady friends would definitely enjoy the canoe staff, very easy on the eyes!
Rumours East has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville, if not my #1. It’s an absolute must for the most simple pinot lover to a Silver Oak connoisseur. I recently had a double date there with my man and 2 lads from Chicago who were in town to record a single. Go figure right, rock n roll in Nashville! They are great guys and we hope that they choose Nashville as their home for the album. The atmosphere at Rumours East is top notch and reminds me of being in Italy. We ate outside on the back patio with the soothing sounds of the Nashville night, candle lit table, and a nice bottle of Malbec. The food is to die for! Rumours East can do no wrong, so delicious. If you’re lucky enough to have J. Wes as your server, give him a hug and tell him Cat sent yah. Yeah it’s Nashville, we hug strangers here.
I’ve had the last few weeks to really get familiar with East Nashville and I’m really happy with all of the little spots I have discovered. People are very quick to divulge their secret diners, delis, wine shops, gyms and just about anything else that comes to their mind. Mitchell Deli in Riverside Village is the cream of the crop in this neck of the woods. All of their meats are grass fed, cage free, hormone free and super fresh. They have the best lunch specials. They have a rotating daily sandwich special that I always pick up as well as a beautiful organic salad bar. Mitchell’s sells local goods, and the dining area is great for that country store feel. Getting the sandwiches to go is easy breezy, they never have a long line but are always busy. Great food, friendly smiles and such the perfect lunch!
Here are a couple pictures of my dear friend and super model, Maggie Rizer. I caught up with Maggie on my last visit to San Francisco. Doesn’t she look incredible in my black jumper?? Gorgeous! Love you Maggie!
We all know that us die hard NY’ers can have the occasional craving for a thin, crispy, fresh, and sultry slice of pizza at any given moment. One of the hardest parts of living away from the City is finding a haven for said craving. I’ve tried them all in Nashville and have to say that Bella Napoli is by far the best! Don’t let anyone tell you different. Super friendly staff, imported Italian dough, fresh mozz, homemade sauce, brick oven, Acqua Panna (best bottled water on Earth) and mmmm so good! I wont get a pie anywhere else. Check them out next time you cruise over to Edgehill Village, they are a little hidden from the road, but that makes for a nice quiet courtyard lunch……
