Rock Weekend - Part 2 - - Mariachi El Bronx & FOO FIGHTERS
Well this weekend couldn’t be more packed with babes! Dave Grohl is my longtime crush and I finally, after years of waiting, got to see him rock the hell out, up close and personal. My life would be nothing without rock n roll. It is not only inspiring for my collections but it is the foundation of my youth. I grew up on desert metal. I was born to rock. The Foo Fighters are an awesome band. I’ve been waiting so long to see them. We drove from Nashville Friday afternoon to get to the St Louis hotel and be ready for Saturday night. Yes, we did drive 4.5 hours for the show! Hey Dave, come to Nashville sometime! We will cook out for you and the guys, no problem. When Saturday came, I couldn’t have been happier. Our great friend Brad Magers and his band Mariachi El Bronx were chosen to be the opening act for the first half of the tour. With tickets and passes in hand, we seamlessly cruised right into the Scottrade Center. The Bronx were stoked to see us. I think this is the 4th time I’ve see them in last year and half. Once in LA, then the Queen Mary in Long Beach, then on a boat on the Hudson river in NYC and now in St. Louis. We caught the last few songs and went to meet Brad. The Foo Fighters came out a few hours later and stormed the stage like it was the first show of the tour. The lights out, the crowd nuts, it was GO time for Grohl. I watched Dave from the side of the stage and admired his fury. He’s been playing these songs all over the world for 16 years, but he still acted like a teenager high on caffeine, bouncing off the walls. They played a lot of the new record and of course all the hits!! I can’t wait to see them again on this tour! It’s on Dave …. it’s on!

19,000 people can’t be wrong! One helluva night!!

We had Brad sneak our camera in the arena for us, so unfortunately I did not get shots of Mariachi El Bronx live. I sure made up for it with the backstage pics. Thank you Brad Magers and the rest of the band for being great hosts. I can’t wait to see this tour again….I feel it will happen very soon!

I could get used to life on the road!! When there’s a Cat, there’s a way!
I’ve been a huge Jack White fan since I can remember. I feel like everything he touches turns to gold. It’s either that or he just knows how exactly what I like. Whether he is slumming it with The Dead Weather at Don Hills or playing riffs at the White House with Obama, Jack never ceases to amaze! On Thursday night he was on point again with one of my favorite bands he’s put together - THE RACONTEURS! I was fortunate to get last second tickets to show from a sweet and dear friend of mine, she knows who she is, and I will SO be returning the favor! The Raconteurs rocked the Ryman!! It was their first proper show in about 2 years I think. This baby sold out in 5 mins, but when there’s a “Cat” there’s a way. I will never miss a show, ever!! I love all the members in this rock outfit, it couldn’t be more perfect. From Brendon to Dean, little Jack to Jack these dudes are Nashville rock n roll to the T. We couldn’t have had a better time unless we are on stage rocking out with them. We heard all the hits perfectly played. They have not lost it! After the show we walked across the alley to Robert’s and kept the party going. It was such a fun night!!! Go see them as soon as you can!
View from the Balcony seats!
We got ancy and moved down to the floor and took over someone’s seats.

For this years Fashion’s Night Out, I was chosen by my old friend Mandie Erickson, to hold a sale at Beyond 7 in Chelsea! I was so honored to be a part of the celebration. Everyone at Beyond 7 worked really hard to make the event run flawlessly and they were all very hospitable. I was literally added to the flyer 2 days before, but was still able to have a beautiful showing of friends and clients. More importantly I was able to move a lot of the inventory that hasn’t been flying off the shelves in Nashville! These pieces of my collection were absolutely perfect for my NY girls for Fall, don’t worry Nashville, I have new and exciting surprises headed your way shortly. If there was anything that you may have missed out on during the sale, please email me directly and I can let you know what’s in stock. I would love to be able to extend the FNO discount to you, please mention “FNO” in the email. You can place orders directly at www.catherinefulmer.com and there is a contact form on the Store site. Thanks again to all of my awesome friends that found the time to come out and support!!! I love you all!! For more photos check out GUEST OF A GUEST!
Nothing says NYC.. like authentic margharita w/ meatball and extra well done PIZZA! I’ve missed NY and will always love it! I was so excited to be back that the first night I returned I got right to my grind. My first stop was Little Frankie’s at 1st and 1st East Village. Their pizza is one of my all time fav’s, you can’t go wrong here. I love their salads and they have an incredible wine menu. http://www.lilfrankies.com/
This is another one of city staples! The tomato soup at Bread is the most delicious soup on Earth. I met up with my old friend Joseph Mazzarelli for brunch on my second day back! I could eat here every day, I used to! I love Nolita
Peels in the East Village is incredible and a great place for dinner and drinks. Their chef’s pay excellent attention to detail in both the presentation and taste. I’ve never had a bad experience and it’s definitely a must visit in the city. We ate at Peels before the Wang Party, which was the party of the week for me! It was so nice to catch up with all of the people I haven’t seen in so long. This week was so much fun and definitely a success!
Love the Aussie’s! My amazing hairdresser Staci w/ Jaime Robbie Reyne and The Broken Hearts
Yoni and the mystery cowboy, whom I’ve met in all corners of the Earth, at the Wang Party
Ms Staci Child and the views from the Wang Party - Chelsea Piers
Odd Future makes a surprise performance
What a glorious and glamorous night - it was so fun to see so many familiar faces. Wish I had more pictures but some asshole stole my phone!
The view :( Miss trees and nature
3 nights of heels destroyed my feet, thank god for Reflexology in Chinatown
More snuggle time, so glad Staci had animals in her apartment
Cool cats like this a very hard to come by in the city. She became my bestfriend, he kisses when you say kiss
This dude was scruffy - Leroy. I helped him up on the couch when his little legs couldn’t get him up there. He really became a fan of pizza while I was there.
Staci has one of these. There were only 100 made! Very rare and unique
This week couldn’t have been possible without the help and love of all my friends, you know who you are! I was really taken care of and felt so happy and focused the entire time. I can’t wait to see all of you soon! Check out these places too:
I invited my new girlfriend, artist Emily Leonard over the other day to check out some of my archived pieces and model them for me. It was so nice to see my clothes being worn by such a beautiful Nashville girl! I have some great new ideas for my next collection and I’d love to shoot with Ms. Leonard. The top photo was taken by Heidi Ross, who I look forward to working with as well.
Please join me this Thursday at Beyond 7 for a very intimate and exciting exhibition of my collection. Ladies - it’s time to shop! I’m so excited to have all of my contacts in the industry as well as my friends together in one room! I’m very honored to be a part of such a beautiful showroom and such an important night for NY Fashion.

I’d like to take a minute here to feature my good friend Owen Schmit. Owen is an amazing artist who currently resides in Los Angeles. Nothing inspires me more than being in the presence of fellow artists. I’ve tried my best to not miss any of her shows and as luck would have it I find myself in LA almost every time she has an opening. I love the shapes and angles that she creates as well as her moody dark backgrounds and electric brights. I can’t help but think about Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon cover. When Owen and I aren’t creating our next pieces, we love to cook together too. The kale salad in “Cat’s Kitchen” is one of many dishes we love to whip up. I’m sure to feature one of her meals very soon! Here are a few of my favorite paintings and installations that she has made. I just got a new mailbox big enough to accept this piece - Owen……you have my address! Just sayin….CHECK OUT OWEN’S WEBSITE
Let’s get back to some local fashion and let me introduce you to Diamond Star Halo Vintage. I first heard of DSH way back in January this year, I read that it was the best in town, so of course I had to check it out. My research lead me to the Antique Mall off Thompson. When I inquired about the clothes with the ol gals at the Mall, two things happened. One, I was immediately distracted by all of the JOHNNY CASH ESTATE items and two, I found out they stopped carrying Diamond Star Halo. :( I’ll get into the antique mall in the future, stay tuned. Anyways, one day back in March I was doing yoga in East Nashville and was introduced to a woman who was from New York and was a fashion writer. Very interesting I said……..turns out it was Libby Callaway. Libby quickly became my first friend and fashion contact in Nashville and coincidentally is the owner/buyer of Diamond Star Halo! I’ve met so many great friends through Libby and I’m so proud to be her friend. That day, Libby told me that she was selling Diamond Star Halo vintage out of Fanny’s House of Music in the 5 Points area. Libby also insisted that I wait at least 2 weeks to visit the shop because she had to “stock up” on only NYC worthy vintage!! She’s so adorable. I couldn’t wait though, I got in there a few days later. I found some really amazing buys! I stop in frequently - it’s my new weekly habit!
Fanny’s House of Music has the coolest guitars for sale. They also provide lessons by the hour and there’s always cute little future rockers running around the shop with their folks.
I popped into visit my friend Gregory Lattimer the other day. He’s the owner of NOW Records, a NY’er, and all around great guy. NOW is being operated out of Music City Motorcycles, which is pretty much the toughest place I’ve ever been. I met Panhead Phil the owner of the bike shop while Gregory was giving me a tour. Phil let me shoot pics of the shop and we talked chopper’s and hogs, you know, it’s Nashville. NOW Records operates with the simple mantra of releasing Singles only. Gregory records bands FREE of charge, produces for FREE then puts out the music. He’s not interested in releasing full length albums. His structure is based off Sun and Motown Records and the ways of the old school record labels. Gregory would love to see all of his artists succeed, but has nothing to gain financially after they have released their single. He is here to facilitate and create new ART one song at a time. I really dig what he has going on!
